Puglia is one of my favourite regions in Italy for a true authentic Italian holiday. The combination of small beautiful towns, fantastic local food and the sandy beaches makes it a perfect destination for an Italian holiday lover like me.
Gallipoli in Greek means “beautiful city” and it certainly lives up to its name! There is something special about this town; it truly feels like time has stopped completely. The old town sits on a tiny island with impressive baroque buildings surrounded by turquoise blue sea. I find myself happily strolling through the narrow streets searching for the B&B that I booked few hours upon arrival.
I managed to find a very nice B&B right in the heart of the old town, which turned out to be the perfect stay. Probably this is one of my favourite B&B’s, as I loved the architecture of the building with its original wall colours, stylish decoration and a beautiful terrace. As a sea lover Gallipoli is the perfect beach town because you got long sandy coastline with turquoise blue sea. Our local friend suggested Lido Pizzo that was absolutely breath taking. Lido Pizzo offer beds & umbrellas and their restaurant is really good (book ahead in high season).

The best part of travelling in Italy is of course the food! I highly recommend the restaurant ‘La vinaigrette‘ in the heart of Gallipoli. Try “cozze gratinate” a local mussels dish.
How to Reach Gallipoli: Brindisi Airport is only 1 hr drive from Gallipoli.
Best Season: May, June, July, September (Avoid August)
